Lose Weight By Changing What You Drink

Are you frustrated with your weight loss efforts? Most people can cut about 100-250 calories a day just by changing what they drink. The accumulation of these small changes will result in weight loss over time.

Discover how good water can be. If your tap water isn't yummy, use a Brita Filter to vastly improve the quality of taste. Try various kinds of bottled water and unique waters such as alkalized water, which has a light, sweet tatse a lot of people find appealing. Many people like water once they add a squeeze of lime or lemon juice or add slices of cucumber.

Cut sweeteners out of your hot beverages such as coffee or tea. Remember, sugar, honey, and agave nectar all deliver empty calories. Begin by limiting the amount of sweetener you use, and slowly using less and less. Because artificial sweeteners have recently been linked to weight loss problems (per medical studies), you will want to avoid these altogether. Wean yourself off until you can take your coffee or tea with out sweetener at all.

There are several teas and coffees that are good without any sweetener at all. You may fall in love with Good Earth Original Blend tea, which is spicy and sweet, or perhaps you'll find a flavored coffee you'll enjoy. You may find yourself prefering nonsweetened beverages after experimenting.

Refuse to drink soft drinks of any kind. Sugar sodas are full of empty calories--about 140 calories worth in every can of soda. Diet sodas are linked to weight gain, to the mystery of most dietitians. Common explanations are that either artificial sugars interfere with your body’s ability to metabolize calories, or artificial sugars increase your cravings for more sugar. Replace soda with seltzer water instead.

Stop drinking so much juice. While the sugars in juice are natural, they are still sugars. The juices supplemented with artificial sweeteners probably aren't much better for you. Limit juice consumption, treating it as you would a dessert.

You may be surprised at how much weight you lose just by changing a few beverages a day.
